Here at Cornerstone Alpaca Stud we make caring for and protecting our environment a priority. We try to eliminate the use of unnecessary products and behavior that will create or encourage a waste problem.
We eliminate the use of chemicals where possible such as using natural certified products for washing, cleaning, toilets etc. in the shop, house, café and when treating the alpacas.
We have implemented the use of rainwater and solar panels for all activities and use on the farm to our businesses. We also love creating interesting art spaces by using recycled products for efficiency and esthetics.
Process:
- Buy earth wise or similar products for cleaning
- Natural organic fertilizers for paddocks
- Zinc in water troughs to prevent Facial Eczema, not medicine
- Liquid coffee, ground Coffee and tea leftovers are recycled into the garden area as fertilizer
- Organic Lime, seaweed and natural fertilizers are used on paddocks
- Rainwater is captured in water tanks for public/personal use (UV Filter) and animal troughs
- Solar panels installed for the whole farm
- Woodfired pizzas authentically made
- Artistic recycling bottle screen wall
This means that alpaca farming is completely safe and natural for the environment.

Green Alpacas?
Yes, Alpacas are one of the most eco friendly animals on the planet. Unlike horses or cows, Alpacas don't have hooves but rather 2 toes with a soft pad under each toe which reduces environment impact. Alpacas are also shorn once a year for their quality eco-friendly fibre.

We aim to prevent the waste of potentially useful materials and reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, thereby reducing energy usage, air pollution and water pollution.
We use:
- Recycled bags for gift wrapping and packaging of products
- LED bulbs are used in the shop and Granero (The Barn) to save energy
- Old baths are used as water troughs for alpacas to drink from
- When doing renovations, we upcycle items!
- For our cafe, all crockery and utensils are bought in support of Op-Shops charities

Alpaca Manure
Alpaca manure is considered a rich soil conditioner. It improves the soil quality and its ability to retain water. It is also great for plants. Alpacas also use a common area for their droppings which keeps the paddocks nice a clean and environmentally friendly.
